The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes or the Domain (as it is most commonly known) is an area of ground surrounding the Catholic shrine (Grotto) to Our Lady of Lourdes in the town of Lourdes, France.
In 1858, the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to a young peasant girl named Bernadette Soubirous in the small town of Lourdes, France. Our Lady, who said of herself “I am the Immaculate Conception,” told the girl to dig in a certain spot and drink the water she found.
