School History Our Lady of Lourdes School was established in 1959 to provide Catholic Education for the children of the newly formed Our Lady of Lourdes Parish. The pastor, Fr. Joseph Mackey, with the approval of Bishop Charles Francis Buddy of San Diego, made the request to the Presentation Congregation in Ireland for sisters to staff the school.
Our Lady of Lourdes Church was established in Slidell in 1890, as a mission church of Notre Dame du Lac (Our Lady of the Lake, in Mandeville). Six months later, in January 1891, approximately 21 children were enrolled in Our Lady of Lourdes School.

Our School History Two years following the dedication of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, the parish was in need of a school, and one was started in the former Parker property in 1911. The house was used as both a convent and a school, staffed by sisters from St. Francis, Oldenburg.
In 1958, Our Lady of Lourdes Church and Parish was established at the site. For many years, the school was known as Our Lady of Lourdes-St. James School. It is now known as Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School. Our Lady of Lourdes is located in an established suburban area of the city where no major growth can occur.
The Mission of Our Lady of Lourdes The mission of Our Lady of Lourdes School, in the Archdiocese of Omaha, is to provide a four-fold educational vocation of the Catholic Church: to proclaim the message of faith, to foster community, to encourage worship and prayer, and to motivate to serve others.

Our Lady of Lourdes Parish and School History Our Lady of Lourdes Parish began Easter Sunday, April 17, 1927. The first Mass was celebrated by Father Francis Biendl (1927-1932) in Dr. Charles Murray’s home located near the site of the present church.
