The statue is made up of gilt bronze and the author is not known. It was offered by a pilgrim and blessed on May 13, 1932 by Mgr. Giovanni Beda Cardinale, then Apostolic Nuncio in Portugal. Its location at the center of the Prayer Area illustrates significantly the centrality of Jesus Christ in the message of Fatima.
