Located in a beautiful, wooded area, the Lourdes Grotto was among the first devotional sites completed at the Shrine. It is a replica of the famed Lourdes Grotto in France where Our Lady appeared in 1858 to a young, peasant girl named Bernadette Soubirous.

The Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes originated on the Eve of World War II when the pastor of St. Anthony’s, Father Anthony Sylla OMI, summoned his parishioners that evening asking them to haul their field stones so that a grotto could be built.
We began Perpetual Adoration in Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in 1992, on Easter Sunday. You are welcome to come to the Perpetual Adoration Chapel which is known as the “Grotto” here in the parish. It is located on the southwest corner of the Church, and the entrance is via the alley on the west side of the Church.

To mark World Earth Day, Fifth class from Our Lady of Lourdes National School with their Teacher Mr Frehill, their home school liaison Teacher Siobhan McKenna, Sr Delia O'Connor and Katherine Kirby from Our Lady of Lourdes Estate Management cleaned up the grotto in Clarina /Crecora Avenue and planted some beautiful plants that were most kindly donated by Mr Micheal Sheehan of Parks Department.
