We had spent the previous 2 days in Fatima, a little village about 2 hours away from Lisbon, for a quick retreat before we dive into the craziness of World Youth Day in Madrid. We were scheduled to be on the overnight train to Madrid at 10:30PM that night.

FATIMA! (April 6-9) Fatima was to be my first all out solo pilgrimage. Being of Portuguese heritage, I was definitely eager to see Portugal and go to one of the most important apparition sites of the 20th century. Of the big three – Fatima, Medjugorje and Lourdes – Fatima was definitely a priority for me.
